To be a consistent and accurate ball striker, it’s critical that you have proper golf grip to control the face angle of the club at impact.
Launch monitor data has proven that face angle is the single most important variable in the starting direction of the ball.
In fact, the ball will launch very closely to the direction the club face (face angle) is pointed at impact.

Equipment Tips
Here’s a statistic that may surprise you:
On the PGA Tour, the split between those using a blade vs mallet putter is about 50/50.
The reason that’s probably surprising is that the common assumption seems to be that blade putters are designed for highly skilled players, and mallets are for “the rest of us” who need a little more forgiveness from our putters.
But that assumption is clearly incorrect. Or, at least it’s out of date.

They were obviously similar to one another, but each one of them was slightly different from the others in some unique ways.

The implication from his quote is that, simply by perfecting the way you orient yourself at address, you can give yourself a big head start at hitting the ball better.

Driving Tips
With so many factors affecting the ball’s flight (clubface angle, swing path, swing plane, grip, weight shift, etc.), all of which must be in harmony at the precise moment of impact, it’s easy to see why Jack Nicklaus once said:
“The toughest shot in golf is one that is perfectly straight.”
So if you accept the fact that hitting a perfectly straight golf shot is very difficult to achieve, perhaps a better and more attainable mission would be to:
Learn how to control the amount of curve on the ball to the greatest extent possible.
